Custom Arabic calligraphy for use as a Tattoo
Apparently tattoos are not allowed in Islam if you have not been told this already however once upon a time Arabs throughout the Middle East were in the habit of tattooing large portions of their bodies, while people of certain religious sects tattooed pictures of their deities or religious rituals on their hands and chests.
Once Muhammed and his Muhamedanite hordes swept across the Middle East, tattoos and tattooing were forbidden to everyone. The Prophet cursed both the men and the women who do it and the women who request it. If a man does it, he merits an even greater curse. The Prohibition of tattooing is that it is considered to permanently disfigure the face and other parts of the body with repulsive designs. The pain and agony which the person being tattooed must undergo from the pricking of the needle is also considered forbidden as it is unneccesary punishment to the body.
